Today was a hard day at work.
I was working with the ‘Mini-Kidz’ today which means that their ages could be 3-5 years old. We were also under staffed, and had twenty-two children! I had also only had seven hours of sleep and it took me hours to get fully awake this morning.
I worked for 9 hours straight, i missed my lunch break (oops)
It was exhausting, but good in the end.
I got home and called this lady I babysit for that asked me if I could babysit all saturday and stay the night and watch them Sunday as well. I agreed, and just said that I had to work Saturday night, for a few hours. Right after I hung up the phone with her I checked my e-mail and got an oppurtunity to be a missionary advisor on a trip to Alaska leaving Saturday.
I have gotten one of my jobs to let me off for three weeks, and I am calling my other job tomorrow morning…please pray for me! Pray that God will close the door if it is not what I should do, and open it wide if it is…and that I can get out of the babysitting job as well.
Thanks!

Today I felt like blogging. So here I go.
I was in church today thinking about a million other things that what my sunday school teacher was talking about it. One thing that was on my mind was having a ‘mentor’.
Currently life is overwhelming, which is not necessarily a bad thing, but I feel like there is a lot on my plate emotionally that I have to deal with.
-saying goodbye to a family of twelve who has lived with us for 6 months.
-saying hello to having my sister and her husband move in with us indefinitely.
-coming to terms with staying at home this fall.
-a boyfriend?!
-What in the world am I doing when January comes?!
I am overwhelmed and am remembering what some wise people once told, ‘you need a mentor in your life’
My question is how? How do you ‘pick’ a mentor? How do you ‘trust’ and ‘respect’ them?
Do you have a mentor?

I have some exciting news.
I am moving to Thunder Bay, Canada!
I am turning a page in the ‘book’ of life. I have chosen a path less traveled, and also not the easiest. I love to have fun, but through the choices I’ve made and I believe that God wants me to make and things that I have been forced to do, I have had to ‘grow up’ at a early age.
I have chosen to stay on that path by taking this job. I have chosen this job first because I believe that God wants me to take this job and also to save money as much as humanly possible, to go to school, and continue in the maturing process by moving away from home.
I will be gone (again) for 6-8 months. I am hoping to save up around 6-8 thousand dollars depending on how long I will be there.
I am excited to go and be able to help this family, and to be able to go to their church (which sounds fantastic!)
It is hard to be excited while I am at home, because I am hurting my parents and friends again by leaving. I will be leaving in a little over two weeks (Feb. 15th.)
This week is a tough one. I will be telling all of my friends that I am leaving, packing and trying to spend as much time with my family as possible.
Please pray for me as I transition into this new phase of life.
Thank you!!

Now don’t worry I am not getting married (or am anywhere close) I just thought it would be neat to think of things that have recently happened or that you have gotten that are significant to you that fall into these four categories. Here we go!
Something New: I recently drove to Virginia, it was the first time I did the trek by myself (new!) and I looked at (with my good friend and her family) last years resolutions that we all had made and made new ones for 2009.
Something Old: While I was in Virginia I was looking for a shirt to wear in my bag (which I haven’t used since I visited her last year) and I found my favorite shirt that I had thought was lost forever!
Something Borrowed: I had recently been falling asleep each night to the ‘August Rush’ soundtrack, it is the perfect blend of instrumental and singing. I borrowed the CD from my friend Heather.
Something Blue: I have a turquoise (does that count as blue?) hat that is sitting next to my computer, that is my favorite hat! I got it with my good friend Mandie Sodoma last time I visited her in Washington state (mine is turquoise her’s is purple!) I will be visiting her for the first time in two years, on the 15th!
Well those are mine, what are some of yours?

I have been searching for a job on and off since I have gotten home.
My ideal job is anywhere from receptionist to au pair/nanny.
Now this job is short term (about 6 months) till I raise enough money to get back out onto the missions field (details yet to be determined.)
But job searching sucks. For the past two weeks I have been searching for a job almost non-stop.
It started out by only picking to apply to jobs that I really wanted to do, now it has come to applying for any job in my field.
In my e-mail I have two folders, one called ‘Jobs’ and one called ‘Reject Jobs’
In the ‘reject’ folder, is ones that I have thought looked sketchy, or ones that have rejected me. My reject folder is twice as big as my ‘jobs’ folder.
I had the ‘perfect’ job, but because of my traveling in January, the person needed me sooner, and picked someone else.
Job searching is definatly, no fun. Yet God has got a job for me somewhere. I just need now. Now, now (please!)
What have been your experiences ‘job searching’ good or bad?

I spent all day in my Pj’s (granted they were sweat pants and a sweat shirt, but still)
I slept in.
Had time with God.
Watched a movie
Learned the basics of driving stick.
Laid around and chatted on the computer.
It was a very lazy day and I loved and needed it!

Today I finally did my laundry…
When I went down to do my laundry, I also put away my suitcase.
In the room that we put all of our suitcases, there is a lot of other junk in it. Some of that junk should have been thrown away a long time ago.
A couple of those things is dog food and a dog bed from our beagle that died in September. Ever since I have been home i’ve been trying to put him out of my mind. Normally I would be hearing his paws pitter-patter down the hallway. Or he would be barking when someone came to the door…
Today I have been reminded of him several times…
I went downstairs to find a box and had to go into his old pen to get one.
I miss him…
He was a wonderful dog. This is for you Joshy!

Filed under: Chapter 2: Beautiful Decision
When I woke up this morning, one question popped into my head.
‘What does it mean to be free?’
Using my awesome new Bible (courtesy of Mandie Sodoma) I looked up the word freedom in the concordance.
The first scripture was Psalms 119:45 which simply says that David was free in the God because he was devoted to God’s commands.
I kept on reading
David goes on to say that he is unashamed to tell kings about God’s commands.
Suddenly it all clicked. For me freedom means being unashamed.
We are free in Christ so therefore should never be ashamed.
Sin brings shame.
Christ brings freedom.

A couple of days ago I went to a very big mall by my house for the first time since I have been home.
There were a lot of new things to get used to (like getting your teeth whitened in a kiosk at the mall?!)
After shopping for a while with my friend, we saw a Sony store and decided to pop in.
Now both my friend and I have mac’s.
We sat down at one of the computers and were playing around, when a sales man came up to us and asked if we were considering buying a PC. We both politely said no, that we were just stopping in. He didn’t take the hint.
He proceeded to show us about this cool thing called ‘Skype.’ I told yes, it saved my life in South Africa (when it was working.)
Then he asked us what kind of computer we both have, we said that we have Mac’s.
This is where the games began.
He went off for another fifteen minutes about how everyone thinks that Mac’s are better, but PC’s have this and that and the other. Thanks to Marc I was able to say that I have everything that he said that Mac’s do not have.
He sadly had to go on break, after bombarding us with questions and stories about his computer hacking days and how easy it is to hack into a Mac.
We then sneaked out of the store quickly!
I wish that Marc could meet this sales man. It would be like a Mac commercial come to real life!
Marc I have his business card if you want it.
